Every year in the months of June and July, the paddy fields at Kizhakkupuram in Kottayam turn into a sea of flowers. The water lily blooms and swamps the paddy fields, stretching endlessly and covering a significant stretch of 215 acres. When the water lilies are in full bloom, it turns the paddy fields pink and makes for a resplendent sight. People arrive from far and wide to witness this once-in-a-year wonder here. They appear in fields after harvest. After the harvest, the seeds of the aambal that were deposited earlier in the field grow and it completes its life-cycle, which is usually 3-4 months in a year and offers seasonal scenic beauty. These native water lilies, known as aambal in Malayalam, bloom at night and wilt as the day gets hotter. The pink water lilies which are very rare attract a large number of people from distant places.

Turn left at Kollan kavala bus stop, Kollad
from next junction turn left and go straight which will lead to an interlock road
turn right from there and you will reach at the destination
