Making a Chinese Opera Mask with Acrylic Paints (Beijing Opera Mask 京剧面具)

Описание к видео Making a Chinese Opera Mask with Acrylic Paints (Beijing Opera Mask 京剧面具)

I was inspired by the various colors and shapes on the Chinese opera masks, also known as Peking opera masks! So I tried to make one myself with acrylic paints and some golden ink.
I wanted to do something original with my own shapes and colors, and not just reproducing...In fact, the colors on my mask are inspired from a paradise bird, they are quite spectacular with their unique colors and parades!
I wanted to achieve a mysterious and captivating look, I hope that was a success!

The masks shapes and colors in Peking Opera represent the different characteristics of the personas on stage. Surprisingly, the green masks and the yellow masks represent bad characteristics, the green mask implies violence, and the yellow cruelty! While in most western cultures and particularly in Islamic culture the green and yellow are associated with life and nature...
