Chordplay - The Chords Of Weezer

Описание к видео Chordplay - The Chords Of Weezer

Here's the next episode of Chordplay with The Chords Of Weezer. Rivers Cuomo & Co. formed in Los Angeles in 1992 and literally exploded on the scene thanks to the release of their self-titled "blue" album (produced by the late-great Ric Ocasek) in 1994.

I've always considered Weezer a "nerd rock" band and they fit into that awkward (but talented) category of rock music that relates to bands/artists such as Devo, Talking Heads, Weird Al, Cake, Presidents Of The United States Of America, Nerf Herder, and of course - Weezer!

The chord-based ideas/riffs in this lesson come from Weezer's classic "blue" album, along with a number of cuts from their lesser-known (but rockin') album 'Maladroit' and one from the more recent release 'Make Believe.'

While there isn't a boatload of shredding or technical guitar playing featured in this lesson, there is something to be said about keeping things simple but effective, which is Weezer's bread-and-butter. While everyone knows Rivers can play a lot more than he commonly displays in his music, it's the fact he uses restraint and plays for the song/band - which is what you SHOULD be doing at all times. In other words, play for the song and not yourself!
