Illidan's fight is pretty simple at Level 90 even without a tank or healer. There are some mechanics to just take note of if you are trying to solo him.

There are 5 phases to this fight. Phase 1 is pretty simple. Tank him and stay out of the fire circles he puts on the ground. He does do a decent amount of damage still, so if you're squishy you might want to kite him around.

Phase 2 usually starts when he's around 65-70% health in my experience. At this point he will fly up in the air and throw his Warglaive down, spawning 2 fire elementals. This is where a lot of damage starts to go out. Be careful to avoid fire on the ground but the elementals will also breathe fire at you which is unavoidable. Save all your damage and defensive cooldowns for this phase so you can survive the fire and kill the elementals as quickly as possible.

Once the elementals are dead, Illidan will come back down and phase 3 will begin. This is the same as Phase 1, so continue following the same strategy.

As long as Illidan is above 30% health, he will switch back and forth between Phase 3 and 4 every 40-50 seconds. In Phase 4, he transforms into a demon and starts throwing AOE Flamebursts on the ground. Any shadow resistance abilities should be used here to help you survive. If you get Illidan down to 30% health while he's in this phase, it will end early and he will transform back. I didn't experience Phase 4 in my level 90 solo because I burned him down so quickly.

Phase 5 begins when Illidan gets to 30% health. You will be temporarily disabled while a small conversation between Illidan and Maiev Shadowsong takes place. Once the battle resumes, this is pretty much the same as Phases 1 and 3 except Illidan has increased attack power and starts doing more damage. This is technically an enrage so it can be cancelled out by abilities such as Shiv. Also during this phase, Maiev places demon traps randomly on the ground. If you move Illidan on top of the trap and activate it by clicking on it, it will increase his damage taken by 100 percent.
