This is a must see productions for all railfans! I present to you something extremely rare: A steam engine pulling actual revenue freight in modern day 2023!

Wow what a neat thing to be able to document and not so far from home for me which is quite amazing! The Albany & Eastern railroad usually runs to Mill City and back from Lebanon OR about twice a week and this time just for fun they decided to use their beloved steam locomotive the Santa Maria Valley 205 for the run. I was very fortunate to be given a heads up about this quite a ways in advance which was great so I could plan and take the day off from work.

Another major bonus was being able to capture them switching cars a couple of different times during the day. How fantastic to capture a steam locomotive switching revenue freight in our modern age! I still can hardly believe it was real. What a treat!

The Albany & Eastern Railroad normally uses the 205 for their Santiam Excursion Train rides on select weekends throughout the year. Anything else with the steam loco is a rare treat. This has been the most rare treat of all in my opinion! It is also the first time a steam engine has been to Mill City since the steam era sometime in the 1950's.
