This started a from a comment asking if it's possible to make the Beyer M400 sound like the Beyer M88. After some experimenting... no chance; the M88 has a light Hostaphan diaphragm. This led me to compare a couple of 1980's Hostaphan mics with a current mic, the sE V7. Surely forty years have made a huge difference...
