For three weeks, from August 17 through September 6, 2018, the Allentown Art Museum (AAM) hosted a specially trained draftsperson from the Sol LeWitt Studio who worked with Lehigh Valley artists to execute LeWitt's "Wall Drawing #793A" based on a set of written instructions from the artist. These wall drawings go against traditional definitions of art; unlike a unique, permanent artwork, the wall drawings can be installed in multiple places at once and are intended to be temporary.

To create "Wall Drawing #793A" in our Trexler Hall the draftsperson projected LeWitt’s drawing onto two walls in Trexler Hall and then directed the artists to layer coats of gray, red, yellow, and blue ink on the surface to make the Drawing's brightly colored stripes.

Visitors were welcome to watch the team of artists at work on the mural on Wednesdays through Saturdays and then to see the completed work beginning on September 9, 2018.

LeWitt's "Wall Drawing" will remain on display at the Museum through July 17, 2022.
