In this talk, Daniel Schacter, PhD presents “Memory, Imagination and Creativity: A Cognitive Neuroscience Perspective” and discusses the following: cognitive and fMRI studies on remembering,

imagining, and creative thinking; approaches to manipulating episodic retrieval processes in cognitive tasks; and current research on memory construction & distortion.

Dr. Schacter is the William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Psychology at Harvard University. His research is broadly concerned with understanding the nature and function of human memory using cognitive, neuropsychological, and neuroimaging approaches. He is especially interested in understanding the constructive nature of memory: why it is that memory is not always accurate, and how memory distortions can provide important insights into the working of memory. His 2001 book The Seven Sins of Memory was named a Notable Book of the Year by the New York Times and was a winner of the American Psychological Association’s William James Book Award. An updated 20th anniversary edition of the book was published in September 2021.
