Sandhill Crane and Snapping Turtle: Unexpected Neighbors

A Sandhill Crane fossil was found in Nebraska that dates back some ten million years. That makes them the oldest known surviving bird species.
And the Snapping Turtles go back to dinosaurs, around 66 million years ago. They are truly ancient, but they are the common ancestor of 80% of modern turtles today.
