“Hi Sandi Roberts KastKIng Pro Team. This year it's been particularly hard to try to get weed guards on some of the hooks I buy in particular the Neko rig. I have had a hard time finding hooks with weed guards on them and I really like to fish them with the weed guards. You don't have to, but I do like to put a weed guard on them.

So in this video I'm, going to show you an easy way to attach a weed guard to your hook. Okay, so what you're going to need to make the weed guard. Obviously you're, going to need your hook.

This is an echo hook, so we're going to put a weed guard on an echo hook and you're going to need monofilament. I use 50 pound test. It's about a three inch piece and you fold it in half also some super glue of some sort.

I like the kind that you can brush on and you'll, obviously need your scissors. So we’ve put our hook in the vise and then we're going to take and we're going to secure the hook like that. We take our scissors.

We can cut that piece of extra line off right there. Then we're going to take our monofilament. We're, going to bend it down on the hook like that. This part's a little bit tricky, and then we're gonna secure it as good as we can.

If you have too much line out, then on our bobbin here, we're, just gonna make it a little tighter. So you're gonna go like that, all the way up to the end of it and then what I like to do is i like to bend it back a little bit like this.

Then I go around the back of it a few times like that, and I go back up to the front and then all you have to do. Is you make a couple of little half hitches? So we're, just gonna just gonna go like this.

Take that go around make another half hitch. Take that go around. We'll, do three! Take that go around okay, so now we have it secured. We're gonna take our scissors. I'm gonna cut it then we're gonna take a little bit of super glue.

Once again, we're, going to use a brush undo it. I had accidentally took the whole lid off and we're going to go around. The other thing I forgot to tell you is, you might want to have a toothpick handy just in case you get some glue in the hook eye, then you can take the toothpick and you can poke right in there.

So this is just about done. All you have to do now. Is you're going to take these and you're, going to fold them back and what we're going to do? We're, going to let it dry a little, and then we'll fold them back even better.

So we're, going to come back as soon as we have it, dried okay. So now, basically we have it done. It's, dried a little. We're just going to flip our vise a little bit, and then we're just going to clip the weed guard a little bit like that, we can take it out of the vise.

If we want - and there we have a hook with the weed guard ready to go, one thing i wanted to mention: I do like to use the red colored thread. I feel like the bass seem to like it a little bit better than the black. So I always go for the red it's like putting a little bit of a blood dot on it.
