Cilincing is one of Jakarta's poorest neighbourhoods and one of the most vulnerable to climate change. Changing weather patterns are forcing children out of school earlier and into jobs to support their families.

Data from Indonesia's weather bureau shows the dry season is becoming shorter and the wet season more intense.

Research from Save the Children also finds an increasing number of families in northern Jakarta now depend on their children to help earn a living.

SBS International Correspondent Claudia Farhart spoke to 10-year-old Rizky, who already works as a full-time fisherman, and Mas Aceng, a local man who has set up a free school on Cilincing’s docks to help educate the community’s children.
