PlayStation Festival 2000, Japan - Gran Turismo 2000, Tekken Tag, Dead or Alive 2, Ken Kutaragi

From my tape archives, never before published -- in February 2000, following months of hype, PlayStation 2 was almost ready to launch in Japan and the PlayStation Festival 2000 (Feb 18-20, 2000) was its final major showing before going on sale in March. Compared to other video game events like those held at the Makuhari Messe in Tokyo, PSF 2000 felt eerily quiet at moments, mirroring the PS2's thin Japanese launch software line-up, but restraint was maybe part of the vibe Sony was going for with this event: the calm before the storm, a quiet confidence almost like it knew for sure what PS2 would go on to achieve. This video includes a showfloor walkaround and stage presentations with appearances from Tomonobu Itakaki and Ken Kutaragi. Admittedly, this footage is a bit of a mixed bag, but worth preservation!
