Dear friends and followers, today´s video is one many of you having been waiting for. Joe why does the Airbus call out 50...40...30...20...RETARD...RETARD just prior touchdown?
Well, it´s all about the radio altimeter. I´ll show you how the radio altimeter works, we´ll do some easy math calculations to show you how the radio altimeter is giving out accurate height readouts. But remember the radio altimeter gives you a height above ground and a barometric altimeter shows you the altitude corresponding to the local air pressure. But more in my video! Enjoy!
