As part of the global partnership between Toyota and Suzuki, several rebadged models have been introduced in India.

According to the latest updates, Maruti is currently working on its upcoming flagship model, which is essentially a rebranded version of the Innova Hycross. Although an official name has not been confirmed yet, recent trademark registrations suggest that the MPV could be launched as the Maruti Engage. The highly anticipated debut is expected to take place in July.

Prior to its official unveiling, leaked images of the front grille design for Maruti Suzuki's version have surfaced online. It appears to adhere to the brand's new design language, as seen in models like the Grand Vitara and Maruti Fronx. The signature hexagonal design with chrome accents serves as a clear indicator of this approach. Towards the top section, there are two prominent chrome strips featuring the Suzuki logo. While the upper strip is relatively shorter, the lower strip is expected to extend all the way to the headlamps.

The Maruti Engage might feature the distinctive three-point LED daytime running lights (DRLs) seen in the Fronx and Vitara models. It's likely that a similar design will be implemented for the tail lamp assembly as well. In terms of overall appearance, there are no significant visual deviations expected from its Toyota counterpart.

It will also come in different exterior color shades, including Nexa blue.

The cabin will remain largely unchanged, with new color themes, upholstery, and Maruti's logo at the steering center. Similarly, there won't be any significant changes to the features offered either.

Toyota currently offers five trim levels for the Hycross, G, GX, VX, ZX and ZX (O), which may be equivalent to the Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Alpha, and Alpha Plus trims offered with Nexa vehicles. The Hycross is currently available with two engine options, a naturally aspirated unit and a strong hybrid powertrain.

It is unclear whether Maruti will source the entire Hycross lineup, or just the hybrid variants. However, demand for hybrid variants of the Innova Hycross is high.

To meet the increasing demand, including the upcoming Maruti version, Toyota is working to increase production at its existing facility by starting a third shift. The Maruti version of the Hycross is expected to launch after mid-2023, in two or three months' time.
