Earthquake Resistant Cabin in the Himalayas | Dhajji House

Описание к видео Earthquake Resistant Cabin in the Himalayas | Dhajji House

The Dhajji House, built by architect Rahul Bhushan, is a symphony of wood, stone, mud, slate, and glass crafted into a haven of tranquility.

Built using the centuries-old earthquake resilient “Dhajji Dewari” technique, it stands as a testament to the genius of traditional architecture, blending seamlessly with the Himalayan landscape.

Every corner of Dhajji House tells a story. The wood, meticulously reclaimed from a 100-year-old Kathkuni structure, bears witness to generations past. Treated with linseed oil and beeswax, it not only stands strong against termites but also preserves the wood's integrity for years to come.

Stones for the build are derived from a nearby riverbed, while mud, used to create the weatherproof coat on the wall surfaces, is the local Himalayan sand.

Step inside to find interiors that harmonize with nature, featuring lookouts and a floating deck for an immersive experience. Experience the allure of traditional craftsmanship at this unique hideaway in the Kullu valley!
