Welcome today to a virtual walking tour out in the Lincolnshire Wolds, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)
This is the first section of a 11-12km walk, that takes us through open fields and small villages and is a very popular walk. The trail is very well marked and this first section takes about 40-44mins, with a gentle undulating path that slowly reduces our elevation.

This is a full walk for those requesting a longer treadmill journey and has less of me chatting.

The Lincolnshire Wolds is a very sparsely populated area with small farming settlements and villages, which generally makes for a very quiet place to walk.

Our first section takes us from the outskirts of Fulletby, approx. 3 miles north of Horncastle, a Mesolithic area and once a Roman settlement, is the second highest village in Lincolnshire, at 450ft above sea level.
From here we travel east across open fields that were once the walk ways for Lord Alfred Tennyson, who was born and grew up in this area and found inspiration for his poems from the natural beauty surrounding him.
We will then join the tree line that runs next to Salmonby Carr, a wetland area forming a stage of hydrosere, this leads us to a lake before we enter Salmonby village, a Stone Age settlement, that now consists of a few houses, a pub and church.
