In this video we will try to understand what is Flutter, where can we use this and what are the advantages of using Flutter.

Before getting into details of Flutter, let me explain you a scenario. Let's say that you are planning to create a new mobile app and release it to market. What you normally do is create an android app using java or kotlin as programming language and the for the iOS you develop the same functionality using Swift programming language. What exactly you are doing here is writing the same logic twice in 2 different languages. Ok fine, lets say you are aware of both the prog languages or took help of some one and developed the app in both iOS and android. Now that you build your app and deployed it and its doing well. You wanted to add a new feature to this, at this point you have to again write the code twice once for iOS and once for android.

so the problem with this approach is you need to know both the programming languages java/kotlin for android and Swift for iOS.
The second problem is for any small change or issue, you need to work on both the source codes right.

This is where Flutter comes handy. Now that we understood the drawbacks of existing approach, lets see how flutter solves this problem. Flutter is a UI toolkit created by google, which helps developers to develop apps both in android and iOS with single code base. With this, in the above scenario we will have to write code only once and flutter framework, will ships the source code as both iOS and android native app.

Flutter uses Dart as a programming language to develop apps. You might be thinking that do we need to learn a new programming language. Yes, but trust me Dart is very easy to learn and if you alreay know any object oriented programming language then I dont see working with Dart is an issue.

Currently, with Flutter, we can create both android and iOS apps, but Flutter team is coming up with new framework called Flutter Humming bird, with which we can develop both Web and desktop apps as well.

Now that we understood what is Flutter and what is the advantage of using Flutter, in the next video we will dig deep into FLutter and understand how flutter generates the android and iOS apps with single code base.
