The Arco di Tito, or Arch of Titus, stands proudly at the eastern end of the Roman Forum, marking one of the most important triumphal monuments of ancient Rome. Built in the 1st century AD by Emperor Domitian to honor his brother Titus, the arch commemorates the Roman victory in the Jewish War and the capture of Jerusalem in 70 AD.

Carved from luminous white marble, the arch is a masterpiece of Flavian architecture. Its reliefs are among the most famous in antiquity: one panel shows Roman soldiers carrying spoils from the Temple of Jerusalem — including the iconic Menorah — while the opposite panel depicts Titus riding in triumph, crowned by a winged Victory. These scenes are some of the earliest examples of political propaganda expressed through monumental art.

Despite its age, the arch still conveys a powerful sense of ceremony and imperial authority. Its single, elegant archway frames views of the Forum and the Colosseum, creating a symbolic passage between Rome’s civic and monumental landscapes.
