VENICE, CA — Friday, September 5, 2025 — A multi-agency cleanup operation took place Friday morning along the Venice Beach Boardwalk at Park Avenue, part of the City of Los Angeles’ ongoing efforts to improve sanitation, safety, and public access along the coastline.

The sweep was led by Los Angeles Park Rangers in coordination with the Los Angeles Police Department, LA County Beaches and Harbors, the Department of Public Works, and Clean Harbors Environmental Services. Enforcement focused on a homeless encampment set up near the Park Avenue entrance to the boardwalk.

Sanitation workers came across an abandoned encampment where Environmental Compliance Inspectors (E.C.I.) sorted through belongings and pulled out hazardous materials such as batteries, aerosols, urine containers, and discarded needles. Clean Harbors personnel in orange vests collected the toxic waste for proper disposal, while Department of Public Works crews in yellow safety vests cleared away the remaining items.

Advance cleanup notices had been posted before enforcement. Outreach workers with the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) were on site offering services, including hygiene kits, food, clothing, and bottled water. Staff from Councilwoman Traci Park’s office also observed the operation to ensure coordination among agencies.

No arrests or citations were issued during the operation.

These actions are part of the city’s dual-track strategy of maintaining public order while providing pathways to housing and support services.
