Fertilizers have the most important role in rice crop growth and production but they are getting more and more expensive. Rice production has become very expensive due to higher rates of phosphorus and potash fertilizers. Under the scenario of rising price of fertilizers and salt affected soil conditions, we have suggested a well-balanced schedule of acidic fertilizers. Weather conditions are normal and favorable for the growth and development of rice crop. Even then, maize crop is under stress where it has been cultivated in the new areas other than the traditional one. The most important reason may be salt stress contributed either through soil or use of marginally fit water for maize production. Use of sulpher (Kumulus or Structure-acidic NPK product of FMC) or Sulphuric acid has been suggested to open the pore spaces. Excessive irrigation or severe shortage of water may also lead to stress.
