Footage from an aerial drone survey of Goblin Colony, an area of stunningly beautiful, altered Bandelier Tuff located in the southern Jemez Mountains about 11 km south of the Valles Caldera in New Mexico. The drone survey was conducted to examine the orientation of structures at Goblin Colony, and was part of a larger study using geologic mapping and petrologic and geochemical analyses to determine how Goblin Colony formed. The drone takes off from south edge of the south wall and then flies northwest through a notch in the south wall and over the north wall to the “goblins” in the southwest part of the main cluster. Then it pans northeast toward the main cluster, then it pans southeast across the walls, the Paliza Canyon tributary, and the dacite ridge.
