Although this may seem like a complex job, the process of how to oil the shifter cable on a tacoma transmission is actually pretty straight forward. I've worked on many cars and trucks over the years and it sure is nice not having to jack up the vehicle on jack stands before working on it. Locating the shifter cable that attaches to the side of the transmission is quite straight forward. It's on the driver side of the transmission and is housed inside a flexible rubber boot. With a few squirts of your favourite lubricant, part 1 of this job is done. Next you'll be up inside the truck taking apart the console around the shifter. This actually is quite easy as well.It will be clear as day where the shifter attaches to the shifter cable/rod as soon as the plastic covers are off and you'll be back to putting down a few squirts of lubricant. Once everything is all buttoned up, you're done! Easy peasy! Cycle the transmission shifter back and forth through the gears a few times and the oil will eventually loosen things up. Hope this helps!
