Описание к видео Colour theory- Using a mother colour demo- acrylic paint technique

A mother what?

I learnt this technique late into my art journey and honestly haven’t looked back since..

The Concept:
A "mother colour" is essentially the primary tone or hue you choose to dominate your artwork, which can subtly tint or influence the other colours you use throughout the piece. Think of it as the colour that ties everything together!

For example, if you’re working with a textured landscape painting, you might choose a soft, earthy sienna as your mother colour. This tone could then subtly influence the greens of the trees, the blues of the sky, and the browns of the earth, all while maintaining a consistent feel and mood throughout the work.

Benefits:
Unity and Cohesion: Using a mother colour makes all your colours appear as though they belong together. It can give your piece an overall harmonious look, especially when working with colours that could otherwise appear disjointed.

Control over mood and tone: The mother colour has the ability to dictate the emotional tone of your piece. For example, a warm red or golden hue will infuse your textured artwork with energy and warmth, while a cool blue or green can evoke calmness and serenity.

Simplified colour mixing: Using a mother colour will help you create more harmonious blends and shades, ensuring a consistent flow throughout your piece. Using it means your colours are less likely to clash!

How to Use It:
Start with a single hue that speaks to the mood or emotion you want to convey.
Blend some of your mother colour into your other paints to create variations in tone and temperature.

You can also mix the other colours on your palette together to come up with different colour combinations! You aren’t limited to only mixing in the mother colour.

By mastering the use of a mother colour, you can take your textured artwork to a new level, let me know if it works for you
