Didn’t get what I wanted Monday night… so here I am Tuesday, trying again. Glutton for punishment? Maybe.

The Double Borough — Central Park to Brooklyn and back again, finishing in the bright chaos of Times Square. I sat comfortably in the draft through the subways, over the Brooklyn Bridge KOM, and across Manhattan Bridge into the sprint segment. Legs felt surprisingly good for most of the ride.

Then came the escalator climb out of the final subway. It bit just enough that I eased off to regroup for the sprint… and that’s when things slipped away. The group started to creep forward, and I wasn’t watching the distance like I should have. Suddenly, the Times Square finish banner was right there — and I was not.

By the time I jumped, the final 500 meters were long gone and so was any chance of moving up.
