RT Clinic : How to properly use a Mucous Clearance Device (Acapella, VPEP, Flutter)

Mucous Clearance Devices come in many forms; Acapella, VPEP, Flutter, etc.
The technique for performing proper therapy is the same with each device :
1. Take a deep breath in
2. Seal your lips around the mouthpiece
3. Exhale completely (prolonged from a normal breath)
4. Keep your cheeks tight during exhalation to direct vibrations downward
5.. Perform a strong cough after each exhalation to clear mucus.
