India's Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi Meets Violence Victims in Manipur

India's Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, visited Manipur to meet those affected by ethnic violence in the state. Gandhi interacted with displaced people from the Meitei community at a relief camp in Jiribam. Earlier in the day, Gandhi visited similar camps in Assam, where he met displaced Kuki-Zo people. The Congress leader's visit is aimed at pressing Prime Minister Modi over the ongoing crisis. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has criticised PM Modi for visiting Russia instead of Manipur since the ethnic violence broke out. In response, the BJP has criticised Gandhi's visits as "sick tragedy tourism" and blamed Congress' legacy for Manipur's turmoil.
