I was very surprised to stumble across these Elmer's DIY clay kits on Amazon. Usually, all new Elmers products generate some sort of buzz and people find out about them over social media. But to my surprise, these Stretch N Create kits have exactly ZERO videos online. This almost feels like a follow-up product to their viral squishy kits so I'm pretty baffled by the total lack of interest. Well guess they're getting some free PR from my channel now. I was pretty underwhelmed by the product. The entire process is just adding cornstarch into slime. It's very easy to mess up the mixing ratios and end up with a material that won't harden or hold its shape. I found I could achieve the best result by adding much less activator and a lot more cornstarch, which is basically the same recipe I used for my own video 4 years ago, and not the instructions they've included in the kit. Another thing that irks me is how they're selling plain cornstarch as "Magic Powder". Crafting and DIY is as much about science and understanding how materials work together as it is about creativity. I hate it when companies try to obscure a really obvious learning process under the guise of "magic" or "secret". Children should be encouraged to know how ingredients work together and why certain mixtures behave in certain ways, and not dumbed down to believe crafting is "just magic". The only redeeming factor is that they are not charging a huge markup and the amount of material provided in each kit is quite generous.
