Flathead and Drone - Hacking River

Описание к видео Flathead and Drone - Hacking River

With the feeling of Spring in the air, I have started my quest for the hunt for Flathead. Springtime is generally the start of Flathead season and a time when the big breeding females become more active and can be targeted on lures and bait. So I went out on the Hacking River to see whether there was any signs of flathead action picking up.
I took my drone on this session and it shows what cool structure and habitat that I target flathead in. The drop offs and drains, shallow water flats, weed beds and holes. I would have to say I prefer an outgoing tide as the baitfish are generally funnelling off the flats into the drains and this is where the flathead lay in wait to ambush them.
I managed to capture a flathead hook up whilst the drone was in the air which is pretty speial and well scripted by the fish. You see the fish come off the bottom to attack my soft plastic (an 85mm Spratt). I land the fish just a 45cm model and released soon after.
I also used the 130mm OSP bent to pick up another flattie on the surface.
After catching a few fish I ventured further onto the flats and targeted bream on the OSP Bent 76mm lure. I landed a 30cm tipper.
Great session and pretty much had the river to myself as it was a mid week session.
I hope you guys enjoy the video and the cool vision of the Hacking River.
