Tired of talking past each other on the job? Use these two questions to read someone’s style in under 10 seconds—and adjust on the spot.

The two questions:
1) Are they more fast-paced and outspoken, or more cautious and reflective?
2) When new info or a new project comes up, are they more welcoming and accepting, or more skeptical and questioning?

Quick decoder (DISC in plain English):

Fast-paced + accepting = I style. Lead with the big picture, keep it upbeat, ask for their ideas, move quickly.
Fast-paced + skeptical = D style. Get to the point, give options, let them own the result, skip the fluff.
Reflective + accepting = S style. Slow down, explain the how/when, give support and time to process, no surprises.
Reflective + skeptical = C style. Bring facts, steps, and details. Be precise and give them space to think.

Try it this week with one tech, one dispatcher, or one foreman. Notice what shifts when you match their pace and preference.
