Welcome back to Timberborn! This is Episode 20 of our Folktails Hard Mode playthrough on the Oasis map, and today’s plan is simple in theory: greenify as much of the map as possible and bring natural life back to the desert. In practice… things don’t go quite as smoothly.

This episode starts with removing old Bad Tide caps and reopening water flow so previously sealed areas can come back to life. We begin shaping small reservoirs, tunneling through terrain, placing sluices, and carefully controlling water depth—not to farm or optimize resources, but purely to make the Oasis look greener and more alive. Trees go back in, cliffs get softened, and previously dead zones slowly start to wake up.

Along the way, we finally start laying groundwork for some long-promised projects, including plans for the Earth Recultivator and a more ceremonial approach to accessing it. There’s talk of grand stairways, statues, greenery, and long-term aesthetic design—but those plans quickly collide with reality when power, water, and logistics start to unravel.

What follows is a full-blown engineering spiral. Aquifer drills demand constant power, gravity batteries are mysteriously empty, water production drops far lower than expected, and a long Bad Tide looms with far too many days left on the clock. Emergency fixes turn into rushed wind farm construction, underground power shafts, frantic rerouting, and some truly questionable decisions made while tired and under pressure.

By the end of the episode, the map looks better, the power grid is bigger than ever, and the colony might—might—have enough water to survive the drought. Or it might not. That’s something we’ll have to find out next time.
