With the oversaturation of cookie-cutter horror anime with similar premises like slasher or zombie flicks, Serial Experiments Lain has paved the path and created the blueprint for any new horror anime to thrive. Someone just needs to pick up the plan and put it into action. One can only hope, a new fresh and truly disturbing horror anime comes out in the future. One that resonates within the anime community for a long time.
