A major controversy erupted at the sacred Dwaraka Tirumala shrine in West Godavari district when a woman was found reading the Bible on the temple hill. The incident took place on Saturday evening when a group from Kadiyapulanka, East Godavari, visited the temple after their trip to Vijayawada Kanaka Durga Temple.

While six members of the group went for Srivari Darshan, a woman staying back in the parked auto-rickshaw began reading religious literature. Vigilant devotees noticed this and immediately alerted temple authorities. Following the complaint, the temple security staff detained the woman, the auto driver, and another individual, handing them over to the local police for investigation.
