FORT GENERAL GREGORIO H DEL PILAR, Baguio City – The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) held the Recognition Rites of PMA “TALANG DANGAL” (Tagapagtanggol ng Lahing Dakila at Marangal) Class of 2026 at the Borromeo Field with GENERAL ANDRES C CENTINO PA, Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines as the Guest of Honor and Speaker (GOHAS), Saturday, 04 March 2023.

The arrival honors for GEN CENTINO at the Sun Dial was followed by a photo opportunity, a guest book signing at the Lim Hall Lobby, and the reception of the Guest of Honor at the Maharlika Lounge.

Subsequently, the Parade and Review at the Fajardo Grandstand was accorded with the Entry/Formation of Troops, Entry of Troop Commander and Staff, Honors to the Nation, Manual of Arms, Receipt of Reports, Publication of Orders, Officers Center March, Presentation of Command and Honors, and Inspection of Troops.

Afterward, LTGEN ROWEN S TOLENTINO PA, Superintendent, PMA delivered his remarks and subsequently introduced the GOHAS.

“Certainly, this is a milestone worthy to be celebrated as it gives a deep sense of pride for these young men and women who surpassed the challenges of being plebes inside the Academy. Likewise, they share the special moment with their family and the whole Philippine Military Academy”, LTGEN TOLENTINO said.

During his message, GEN CENTINO said, “I am more than certain that you will have a lifetime full of memories from your four years in the Academy. And today is another one to add to that growing memory bank as we celebrate the Recognition Day.”

He also stated, With the shaking of the hands between these young men and women and their upperclassmen comes a formation that the plebes have completed the rigors of the initial training and now leveled up to the status of being “Plebes No More, Yearlings Not Yet”.

GEN CENTINO also extended his appreciation to the proud parents of PMA Class of 2026. “Let us give the due recognition to the families of plebes who have sacrificed and supported their sons and daughters of this very brave journey. You possessed the ultimate courage of your sons and daughters. You have emulated and endured the challenges of their chosen careers. The values and principles that you have instilled in them have made them worthy of wearing the colors of PMA and shall soon transition in the valiant colors of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.”

Thereafter, a memento was presented to the GOHAS before the Pass-In-Review.

The Recognition Ceremony formally started with the Octagon Formation of the Fourth-Class Cadets followed by the Entry of the Upper-class Cadets, Exchange of Salute, and Singing of Alma Mater Song. It officially ended with the Handshake of the Recognized Fourth Class Cadets to their Upper Class Cadets. Exceptionally, there are 319 fourth-class cadets that have been recognized.
