holy shit aaaaaaaaaa i did it!!! i really like this contest, it's such a good package of maps that i never got bored of playing. the startside especially is one of my favourite maps ever and playing it on pace with the incredible soundtrack in the background is an undescribable feeling.

this challenge has been in my head for a while, with me thinking about it for close to a year. for a while i put it off due to my experience with move block grotto, but later realised (in part thanks to shinx speedrunning the contest) that this map is fully optional if you're not doing 100%, and you can just replace it with a cracked map. this led to me trying it as early as january but being intimidated by the length and difficulty. i came back to it in march after solar and made some small progress, then again this week and got a startside flag 5 pb a few days ago into my next startside entry winning.

i've never been the first victor of a hard deathless challenge like this (i've been 2nd twice, on kingdom to heaven and over the hills) so it feels really awesome to have a challenge that feels special to me personally, especially on such a good mod that i feel is quite underappreciated. go play it right now it's awesome!!

difficulty: i personally found this to be t8 difficulty, but will be placing it in t7 due to its strong similarity to sc beginner deathless (placed in t7) while clearly being easier than sj beginner deathless (placed in t8). if those challenges ever move up in the future i'll move this up with it. raw footage will be provided anyway to avoid being "guy who underrates his goldens as t7 to avoid providing raw footage"

time: my initial startup contest max% took 7.5 hours, however that was full clear silvers while this is an any% run. this removes a few maps (taking that down to ~6 hours), then subtracting casual playthroughs and time spent on berries i'd estimate around ~3 hours of that helped towards this challenge. my dedicated file for startup contest practice had 6.5 hours on it, and i spent around 6.5 hours adding up all of my attempts. this sums to ~16 hours dedicated towards this grind.

notes on the run itself: i didn't stick to a set order in this challenge, as doing so made things more tedious than they would otherwise be, and a large portion of the difficulty of the challenge is memory so i wanted to play all maps as often as possible. that's why this run starts on a very easy map (verdant city). i end with vacuum facility despite it being maybe the least consistent map in the lobby because i simply forgot i never did it lol, glad that didn't backfire. the run has some pretty frequent pausing during startside to watch back my initial golden video to calm nerves and avoid memory issue. this helped quite a bit i think, albeit at the cost of making this a bit less watchable. sorry! just skip ahead like 20 seconds each time i stand still
