Today, we're discussing Carmen Oliveria's "Rare and Commonplace Flowers," a dual-biography following the lives and romantic relationship of Pulitzer-prize winning American poet, Elizabeth Bishop and self-trained Brazilian architect Lota de Macedo Soares.
This is, as far as I'm aware, the first translated work we've read for the book club. The transliteration from Brazilian Portuguese makes for an incredibly lyrical, poetic prose. This is part 1 of 9.
