The honest atheist has to admit that there is no real purpose to life, because without God it isn’t going anywhere. The Christian, however, believes in life after death. Souls are eternal and what happens to your soul depends on who you put your trust in, in this life. If that trust is placed in anyone or anything but Christ, then there is no hope for such individuals when the Man (Jesus) comes around for Final Judgment.
