This is a review of the Bachmann Class 66/9 model which is the Euro-emissions spec locomotive with the extra fifth door on the locomotive. Issued around 2007/2008 and I bought this model originally in 2008, but later it got swapped in part exchange for the new Hornby HST that came out in that year as well. However I managed to still get hold of a brand new model of 66952 in Freightliner livery earlier this month (August 2012) even though I had to pay a higher price for this model this time around. The Freightliner livery is my favourite on the GM Class 66 and its nicer on the eyes as well. I do intend getting other variants of the Bachmann Class 66 later on but sticking with the review, this model has had an electrical overhaul as this model has working directional cablighting in addition to head/tail lights. The tail lights can be turned off when hauling a train as per the real thing as there is a switch underneath the model on the fuel tank. However for illustration purposes, I have left the tail lights on during the test drive to show the brightness despite that the locomotive is hauling a generic freight train on the test track. Very good model and I do intend getting a sound version of the Bachmann Class 66 later on.
