Mayor John Tory ran in two separate mayoral elections, positioning himself as the low tax candidate. He promised time and time again that he wouldn't increase property taxes beyond the rate of inflation.

He broke that promise, and now he plans to increase the property tax levy to 10.5%! Torontonians didn't vote for this, and certainly can't afford it.

It would be one thing if we could trust city hall to spend our taxes wisely. Sadly, these profligate politicians have a penchant for waste. Before they can demand more tax money from Torontonians (and this tax hike will take a further $6.6 BILLION out of our pockets), they need to prove they can spend wisely. They should start by cutting the fat (wasteful spending) at city hall.

Until then, we're calling on the mayor and the rest of city council to stop the Toronto tax hike!
