Located in the the southernmost region of the African continent, Southern Africa includes Botswana, Eswatini (formerly known as Swaziland), Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe. Southern Africa is the most developed region in Africa and South Africa is the only country in the continent being the G20 group. South Africa therefore is regarded as a first regional power while Since independence, Botswana has had one of the fastest growth rates in per capita income in the world to transform itself from one of the poorest countries in the world to an upper middle-income country. Namibia with the well-developed mining sector also shares the third highest GDP per capita in the region. The economic growth of other countries has lagged behind that of their neighbors.
