The second release and the first album from this Bavarian duo.

This record is sung in Norwegian and the base structure might be somehow an old school black metal, but it deviates quite fast from that. This record is so much more than a simple revival of the old black metal ways.
Musically it is hard to fit in just one basket as you have an over harmonic guitar playing and also atypical leads, more commonly from heavy metal or death metal, overly intricate drumming, clean singing and acoustic guitar as in the third and last track, beautiful synth passages.
For these reasons, it is quite unfair to categorize this just in the black metal department, since their music is much more expansive and creative. This is often risky as you might fall in a between genres’ pit, where it loses the genre identity, but it is not the case either.
Their songwriting is magnificent, they pull off some impressive tricks, unexpected progressions that will leave you flabbergasted.
As for the instruments I cannot find any weak link and in their favour is the production, quite clean, that makes everything audible, even the bass or the various guitar and synth layers turning into a more pleasurable experience.
Also, noteworthy are the vocals that are great either clean, or with various distortion levels or the neat drumming abilities shown with uncommon patterns and far from repetitive but also extremely fast ones.
Last but not least, this is a concept album that not only shows a different dedication to conceive this record but also a way to carry a message.
Give a listen because you will be delighted, and it definitely ends on a high note.
