Distributed ledgers are specific sets of records; specific because unlike traditional ledgers they are not kept and updated on a centralized server but rather stored in a computer network that is distributed, meaning that a copy is kept on multiple computers. It is a network based on peer-to-peer (P2P) technology. It is basically a computing architecture that splits tasks among its nodes.
