North Dakota: White Butte and the Enchanted Highway | State High Point and HUGE Metal Sculptures

In this week's road trip episode, I take my minivan camper into southwestern North Dakota in search of two truly off-the-beaten-path destinations: White Butte, the highest point in North Dakota, and the Enchanted Highway, a magical and lonely stretch of highway lined with giant metal sculptures.

At 3,506 ft in elevation, White Butte is the highest point in North Dakota and the 30th highest state high point in the U.S.

Local artist Gary Greff built the giant scrap metal sculptures of the Enchanted Highway in an effort to attract visitors to his hometown of Regent. His effort was a success, at least for me, as it really did inspire me to drive to this less visited part of North Dakota.
