With almost 7 decades to her filmography, she was one of the first to say let's just make movies and not worry about anything else. That mentality drove her into some of the most iconic roles in film history and 29 nominations, 1 Academy Award, 1 Independent Spirit Award, and 3 Golden Globe Awards. Some of which, many in fact, were of the Indie Variety including her last.

Sallywood is a tribute film from the mind of Xaque Gruber...Inspired by movies of Oscar nominated actress Sally Kirkland, a young writer moves to Hollywood to pursue his dreams. In a chance meeting with Sally, he begins a journey toward trying to resurrect her fading career.
