For the older kids this should be encouraged as a group play to develop team-work ethic. there are no winners in this game -- only a team's collective accomplishment
This toy is pretty high on the fun quotient. And, has an element of discovery and suspense - as you figure out the various paths that the marbles can take
If the child is 3-5 years, I would suggest spending some time in the initial instances of playing. A lot of stimulations are being thrown at the young mind in this toy. This is also what I'd call a care-taker-friendly toy
The Marble Madness is all about modular building, there's really nothing complex there. Using some of the arms requires thought, but nothing that the little ones won't figure out -- in fact, let them do this the trial and error way
After the initial spurt, I believe this can be a weekend toy for quite some while, especially for those long Saturday afternoons
Ok, now for a tip. Encourage the child to organize the pieces - by taking the lead in doing so. After a few times the child is bound to imitate. In fact encourage them to pack the toy after play is over
Overall, this toy is a definite inclusion if your child is ready to graduate from 2D board games and puzzles
