And skills like this every parents must not miss and teach their kids. Speaking the same language as rest of the people is one of them. When I was in Uni people spoke in Sinhala in front of Tamil friends who does not understand sinhala. Also facing the same in my office now. One of those things that they never taught you is asking people's Personal questions, specially dont ask someone how much they earn and don’t tell them how much you earn. People often forget these simple things such as using your phone when talking to someone specially, in a meeting, just silent the phone. Phone etiquette are so important to know as majority of people's life is woven around phone nowadays. Simple things like not making noise while eating and eating food with your mouth shut. In the journey of personal growth, adhering to essential social etiquette can profoundly impact your interactions and relationships. While some manners might seem like common sense, they are often things you should know but weren’t explicitly taught. For instance, a fundamental piece of parental advice is to avoid sitting on someone’s bed with dirty clothes; it’s a simple way to show respect for others’ spaces. Similarly, learning to listen attentively in conversations—allowing others to finish speaking before you respond—reflects maturity and self-help in improving communication skills.

Moreover, when on a date, opt for less expensive food options if your companion orders something extravagant; it’s a considerate way to manage expenses and avoid unnecessary pressure. Returning borrowed items in the same condition you received them and being mindful not to brush your teeth in public or use someone else’s phone without permission are also important aspects of good manners. Self-awareness extends to maintaining a pleasant environment around you—such as using deodorant on public transport and being aware of your volume when arguing in public. These are things they didn’t teach you in school but are crucial for personal and social well-being. Additionally, respecting household customs, like removing shoes before entering someone’s home, and always leaving chairs as you found them, reflects both parental advice and self-respect. Lastly, small gestures like complimenting someone who made food for you, not taking the last bite without asking, and ensuring that your bad breath is managed with breath fresheners are all part of showing thoughtfulness and consideration. These practices not only enhance your personal growth but also help in developing meaningful and respectful relationships.
