1. Laura has a diverse background in nursing, including working as a public health nurse, case manager, legal nurse consultant, and is now becoming a health and wellness nurse coach.
2. Laura believes the healthcare system focuses too much on "sick care" rather than preventative care and health promotion. As a nurse coach, she wants to work with clients proactively to help them improve their health and avoid hospitalizations.
3. Laura encourages nurses to keep an open mind about the many career possibilities available to them beyond just bedside nursing. Her own career has evolved over time as she explored different nursing roles.
4. Drawing on her personal experience with an autoimmune disease, Laura is interested in functional medicine and sees potential to help clients struggling with autoimmune conditions.
5. Laura recently moved to Puerto Rico and wants to build her nurse coaching practice there and serve the local community. She believes there are opportunities to educate people and promote wellness.
6. Laura stresses the importance of self-care and maintaining balance across the different dimensions of health - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, financial, occupational, etc.
7. Patience is an essential quality for nurses working with diverse clients and handling difficult situations.
