Air layering is a propagation technique used to create new plants from existing ones. It involves encouraging a branch or stem of a plant to develop roots while still attached to the parent plant. Here's how you can perform air layering on litchi trees:

Materials Needed:
Healthy litchi tree with a suitable branch for air layering.
Sharp knife or pruning shears.
Cocopeat
Plastic polyethylene
Twine or zip tie.
Aloe Vera (optional).
Steps:
Choose a Suitable Branch: Select a healthy and relatively young branch for air layering.
Make two parallel cuts about 1.5 inches apart around the branch, using a sharp knife. Be careful not to cut into the wood.
Remove the bark and cambium layer from between the two cuts, using the knife or a sharp spoon.

Apply Aloe Vera gel (Optional): If you have Aloe Vera gel, you can apply a small amount to the exposed area of the cut. Aloe Vera gel can enhance root development.

Fill a plastic polythene with wet cocopeat, And tie it well to the cut part of the branch.

In about 4-6 weeks, roots will begin to form. When the roots are about 2 inches long, you can cut the aerial layer from the parent plant and plant it in a pot or directly in the ground.

The best time to aerate the lychee plant layer is in spring or early summer, when the plant is actively growing.

Please be patient! It may take 6-8 weeks for roots to form.
Air layering is an excellent method of propagating litchi plants. It is a relatively simple process that can be done at home with simple materials. With a little patience, you can have a new litchi plant in no time!
