Jeroen and his wife Eveline have been traveling the globe for around a year to seek the ultimate ingredients for a gin that would captivate the senses of all true gin lovers around the world.
It took just one encounter, a coca leaf chewing ceremony with an indigenous tribe, during a backpacking trip through the Colombian rainforest, to bring them face to face with the mysterious flavors of the coca leaf. They then knew this was the flavor they were looking for to create their gin.
Between the two of them, they bring a 112 year, 4th generation family history of gin distilling, and an unbridled passion for gin.
The result? An incredibly well-balanced, lively combination of subtle, bitter coca, with bright notes of tamarillo, papaya, and South American dragon fruit.
And then the bottle! It's definitely something special. A real eye catcher! Its definitely a premium design, created by top designers Havi Cruz & Adrian Dominguez and finished with real 24K gold leaf!
The gin itself is also something else. It is the only gin in the world with coca leafs. Taste wise it's also something new. I think this concept of gin could really work.
Furthermore they only produced 2017 bottles of this gin in 2017. I'm one of the lucky ones to have one of these first bottles. Get your 2018 copy!
For 2018 the white edition is planned. This is going to be a total different gin, London Dry, citrus forward, at least that is what I've heard.
Used botanicals: Juniper, tamarillo, dragon fruit, papaya, coco leafs, orange, chilies.
Nose: Very fruity and tropical, sweet, low on juniper, hints of pineapple, passionfruit, dragon fruit.
Taste: Very fruity and tropical, light bitterness, notes of orange, chillies, tamarillo and papaya.
Finish: Medium, sweet with some light bitterness, probably from the coca leafs.
Amuerte Coca Leaf Gin comes in bottles of 700ml and has an alcohol percentage of 43%
Because there is so much going on flavourwise in this gin I use a Fevertree Indian Tonic and garnish the G&T with a slice of dragon fruit and a slice of tamarillo.
