Dental implants provide an elective treatment alternative to traditional crown and bridge and have a high rate of success. As with any surgical procedure, especially those which are considered elective, there are potential risks which must be considered and mitigated. These risks can be related to poor patient selection, improper treatment planning, poor/ lack of prosthetic planning, limited knowledge of potential risks and inability to manage complications.
