This is my second time trying out the Clinique Smart Custom Repair Serum. The first bottle of using this left me feeling uncertain of exactly how I liked this product, so I thought a second trial was important for me to really find out if this was a product to recommend or one to skip. First of all, I must say that Clinique products rarely cause my skin to breakout.  The Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Serum did cause a few breakouts but that was at the beginning of using it, after a few weeks this did stop.  This does have some ingredients that can cause acne and breakouts so I assume that is why.  The other disappointment is that after a few months of use I didn't really notice any visible difference.  I have had much, much better luck with the Clinique Smart Treatment Oil.  And the third thing I wasn't excited about was the inclusion of grapefruit peel oil for fragrance.  The grapefruit peel oil was higher up on the ingredient list than i would have liked.  In my opinion, the Clinique Smart Custom Repair Serum is better for people who don't have any specific aging problems they want to address but those just looking for a product that has a decent overall formula but not looking to treat fine lines, hyperpigmentation, sagging skin, etc.  I found that this did contain beneficial ingredients but not ingredients that can really focus on one skincare issue.   If you have normal to dry skin I do recommend the Clinique Smart Treatment Oil- this product's results were noticeable in the first week of use.
